My work is inspired by nineteenth century ornithological illustrations and compelled by the plight of endangered wildlife and their fragile habitats.

While my work has evolved from functional tableware, to sculpture and now tile, my media has been consistent. I apply layers of vitreous enamel (powdered glass) in multiple kiln firings to plate glass. Sandblast carving the glass before enameling creates dimension and texture. The combination results in luminous color of great depth on a very tactile surface.

I am looking forward to my tenure as a WDCC Board Member and giving back to an organization that has supported designer craftsmen for a century with education and opportunities
